Snowflakes that stay...

We were all just opening sleepy eyes and getting going for the day when Gordon called from the quarry and asked if we'd like a camera outing. And since I was dying to try out my new macro lens...off we went to see how his house was progressing at the edge of the large lake.

Of course the puppies thought this was the best sort of house with no walls so they christened it with lots of puppy play.

The view is definitely going to be nice, even with the lake frozen over.

The puppies were definitely ready to blow off some steam!

While we admired the winter views.

And Domino wondered why there were walls where the trees once stood.

We both had new lenses to test out though so a walk was in order.

The snow was still falling and the deer had been through but a moment before and eluded all camera shots.

So we set off up the very snowy trail.

With dogs barreling up and down the trail at full speed.

Happy tails on the trail.

While we detoured off the beaten track for a bit.

Everything is such subdued light and tones.

I liked this shot because each snowflake was defined.

Rich gold seems to be the color of December.

It's a little like walking through the wardrobe into Narnia.

Somewhat magical.

Only no fauns greeted us..only pits.

The upper quarry was iced over and we had to admonish Domino not to set foot on the thin ice, Charm remembered well from last year the dangers of snow covered ice.

Gordon captured some high speed shenanigans.

The dogs forget all the cold when they get to RUN!

I was even caught snapping a picture or two.

Even though one has to keep an eye out for Domino running like a freight train!

Of course, Charm stayed right close to Gordon because she always wants to be "the good child".

There they are, little dogs in the big dark woods.

It was sort of magical the way the leaves lay on top of the snow.

And the colors were so stark and beautiful.

So we both shot our fill of picts and were off to share a pizza in front of the fire while the snow came down, down, down. A nice day to share with a friend and the puppies are now fast asleep and dreaming of their adventures.

That was a day a very wonderful day to be seen by all, the incredible beauty that the quarry has is indescribable to say the least! The year round seasons are what make it so indescribable and incredible, unless you see it, the photos are not even close to what it really looks like..... but these are some beauty's!
